Anti-human BCAT1 mAb, clone AT3C8, is derived from hybridization of mouse F0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from BALB/c mice immunized with a recombinant human BCAT1 protein.
BCAT1, also known as branched chain amino-acid transaminase (cytosolic form), catalyzes the reversible transamination of branched-chain alpha-keto acids to branched-chain L-amino acids essential for cell growth. Two different clinical disorders have been attributed to a defect of branched-chain amino acid transamination: hypervalinemia and hyperleucine-isoleucinemia.
